at a celebration of Solemn Vespers in the Cathedral
at 5.05pm on Saturday 28 June 2025.
This service of Vespers will be sung by the boy choristers and adult clerks of the Cathedral Choir, directed by the Organist, Peter Holder. The music will include the world premiere of a newly-commissioned Latin setting of the Magnificat by the Master of the King’s Music, Errollyn Wallen. There will be other music by significant figures from Christ Church’s musical past including John Taverner (c. 1490-1545, the first Organist and Master of the Choristers at Cardinal College) and William Harris (Organist of Christ Church 1929-33).
A drinks reception will be held in the Cathedral Garden after the service.
Clergy of all denominations are invited to robe, but are kindly asked to inform the Cathedral Office at cathedral@chch.ox.ac.uk
The event is free of charge, but registration is required by noon on Thursday 10 June.
