The American Friends of Christ Church was organised as a recognised U.S. charity some 15 years ago. Since that date, the American Friends has been the entity through which U.S. resident alumni and friends may make tax deductible donations to Christ Church, either in support of the Annual Fund or to help various major projects.
At the same time, American Friends Scholarships were established. These permit any graduate of a North American university to pursue graduate studies at the House in any discipline. Support of these scholarships has always been a major focus of the Annual Appeal. Today some half a dozen scholars are normally in residence. Generous support of alumni has been such that one American Scholarship is now fully endowed.
Over the years, some $11 million has been raised by US alumni. $1.7 million having come via the Annual Appeal of which $900,000 was for Scholarships. For details of how to donate, please see here.
All of the Directors and Officers of the American Friends act on a pro bono basis and the considerable administrative tasks are all handled by my able Executive Assistant Senior Accountant, Teresa Cummings. We all work hand in glove with the Development and Alumni Office at the House. Thank you everyone.
