CALL FOR NEW COMMITTEE MEMBERS

We have an exciting opportunity to shape the future of alumni activities at Christ Church – and help to fulfil the potential of our vast network of Members – by joining the Association Committee.
15 Aug 2024
Alumni

There are two spaces for new members on the Christ Church Association Committee, including the secretary.

We are enormously grateful to the Committee members whose terms have come to an end at this AGM. Jane Dodd (1987) who has been Secretary of the Committee and Matthew Robinson (1978) joined the Committee in 2018 and we thank them very warmly for their service to Christ Church and the Association.

The Association exists to support the House and its endeavours, and to foster lifelong connections between its Members. We encourage all those who are interested to apply. We are particularly keen to hear from you if you would like to help us connect with the alumni network to help current students and young alumni with careers advice and mentoring.

Committee members are appointed for a three-year term and may be re-elected for a further term. Members are required to attend four Committee meetings per year (in person or online) and to take an active role in events and activities outside these meetings.

If you would like to join the Committee, please email: development.office@chch.ox.ac.uk with

- your name

- matriculation date

- approximately 200 words on why you would like to be considered for membership of the Committee and the skills you would bring to the role

The deadline for nominations is 4 September 2024.

Voting for new members will be run online from 11 September until the AGM on 21 September. Please note the vote is advisory. The committee will make the final appointments guided by the outcome of the vote and the skills and expertise it feels it needs to function effectively. Also, do be aware that information from each application will be circulated to all alumni in advance of the vote.

Further information about the Association, the Committee and the AGM is given below. If you would like to speak to me, or to Development Director Philippa Roberts, for further details please contact: development.office@chch.ox.ac.uk.

With best wishes

Simon Mungall (Chair of the CCA Committee)

The Christ Church Association exists to:

- to foster a network that includes all members of the Association encouraging them to maintain lifelong connections with one another and with Christ Church; and

- to support Christ Church in the pursuit of its charitable objects by helping it to identify and promote the ways in which the Association can contribute to Christ Church.

Membership of the Association is normally open to all who have completed one academic year in a teaching, research or learning capacity at Christ Church or are a member of the Governing Body.

The CCA Committee has representation from alumni, Governing Body, staff and students. Alumni members fill the roles of Chair and Secretary, and six alumni members are elected (three positions) or coopted (three positions).

The CCA AGM will take place on 21 September 2024 at Christ Church. It will be an in-person meeting. Papers will go out from the Development Office on, or by, 6 September. Alumni wishing to submit questions to the AGM may do so by email with a deadline of 13 September.
