Over welcome drinks Professor Davies gave a brief update of news from the House and spoke on `Galaxies & Black holes’. There was a lively interaction during the talk which ranged from Roger Penrose’s prediction that black holes exist to the discovery of
a black hole of mass four million times that of the Sun in the centre of the Milky Way – a discovery that led to the award of the Nobel prize in 2020.
