Christ Church alumni golfers enjoyed outstanding success in the 2025 Oxford University Inter-Collegiate Golf Tournament, held in difficult wet conditions (thanks to Storm Amy) on 3 October. The team comprising: Greg Bennett (1987, History), John Steers (1984, Chemistry), Tim Oakes (1972, Engineering), Mike Abbott (1972, Maths), Philip Butler (1971, Biochemistry), John Clennett (1977, Physics) and Jamie Summers (1973, Geography) claimed overall victory by a substantial margin against St. Catz, Merton, Teddy Hall, Pembroke and Worcester.

There were also notable individual achievements: John Clennett took home the individual player prize, with John Steers finishing an impressive third.

This triumph follows another earlier in the year when a House team comprising Mike Abbott and Philip Butler won the Oxbridge Invitational Golf Tournament in June — competing successfully against teams from 13 other Oxbridge colleges.

The House golfing community welcomes new members. If you would like to join, please contact the Alumni Office.
