The House |
"I suspect this past week will be one that my future self will reference in countless anecdotes. The days have been filled with excitement in many forms, from croquet tournaments organised by the Graduate Common Room, to gathering in the room once occupied by Albert Einstein, to learning about the student pranks that may or may not have involved 'accessorising' Mercury in Tom Quad through the knowledgeable Christ Church staff. Most memorable, though, are the people: within days, I have formed genuine connections with fellow students whose paths span astrophysics, international diplomacy, and entrepreneurship. Their depth of knowledge is matched by their kindness. Furthermore, induction events at my department have fuelled my motivation to contribute to research that helps advance the field.
Surrounded by the energy of current Members, and the presence of those who came before, I am eager and grateful to start my DPhil as a Member of the House."
