Before sharing Laura’s message with you all, I wanted to say a few words of my own.
Laura has had an enormous impact on Christ Church’s fundraising since joining us in 2022 and has been, and continues to be, a wonderful colleague and member of the team. Her outstanding success in securing millions of pounds in gifts and pledges has been driven by her exceptional commitment, strategic thinking, persistence, warmth and empathy. She has had a remarkable ability to rebuild relationships with donors who had become disengaged, inspire new supporters to give, and encourage existing donors to increase their commitment to Christ Church. Quite simply, we would not have made the progress we have without Laura.
From Laura:
'My family and I have made the decision to relocate to Cambridge for new job opportunities, and a new adventure. It has been a long and difficult decision to make as I enjoy my role at Christ Church hugely and the House has played a special part in my life for the past 13 years. My husband was a Junior Research Fellow at Christ Church living in Meadows when we first met and when we married a few years later we received special permission to walk with our wedding party through Tom Quad and down to the river. I will miss the people and the place very much but am also excited to take on a new role at Clare College in Cambridge and spend weekends exploring the wilds of the East of England in our campervan. Thank you all for your help and support with our endeavours at Christ Church. I wish you all the best personally, and with our wonderful, ambitious projects. I hope I will have chance to see most of you at some of our upcoming events before I leave at the end of the summer.'
Clare College’s gain will definitely Christ Church’s loss but we are of course all delighted that Laura has secured a post that will work so well with her family plans and future career. I will miss her enormously, personally and professionally, and we will be sure to celebrate Laura’s time with us and thank her for everything she has done for Christ Church before her departure.
