Since joining the House, she has enjoyed performing three solo lunchtime recitals in the beautiful Cathedral, where she also sings in College Choir.
At age 10, she was commended in the RWCMD Junior Conservatoire concerto competition for her performance of the Schumann Piano Concerto. She was awarded the Sheila Mossman Memorial Prize for achieving the highest mark in the UK in the ABRSM 8th Grade, scoring 147 out of 150.
She studies currently with Professor Caterina Grewe of the Royal College of Music, London. She has also played in a masterclass with Martin Roscoe (RWCMD) and multiple consultation lessons with Dmitri Alexeev (RCM).
An enthusiastic performer, Louise has played solo recitals in venues such as Llandaff Cathedral, the Dora Stoutsker Hall and the Welsh Church of Central London, and was a solo performer in the Penarth Chamber Festival. In December 2023, she performed the Grieg Piano Concerto to a standing ovation in BBC Hoddinott Hall, with the Cardiff and Vale Youth Orchestra. She is excited to be rejoining the orchestra to perform Rachmaninov Piano Concerto no.2 in December 2025.
‘Louise gave a stupendous performance of the Grieg concerto, full of musicality, intensity and power, in front of a capacity audience at Hoddinott Hall. At the end, the stunned audience rose to its feet as one to acclaim this prodigiously talented pianist.’ - Eric Phillips MBE, conductor of Cardiff and Vale Youth Orchestra
‘Louise's performance of Grieg's Piano Concerto with the Cardiff Youth Orchestra under Eric Phillips was remarkable for its confidence, technical assurance and joyous rhythmical lift. This young lady has a musical maturity ahead of her years and deserves to have her talent nurtured with love and care.’ - Anthony Negus, Conductor, Pianist, Music Director Longborough Festival Opera, and formerly Music Staff Welsh National Opera.
Louise also plays violin, sings and composes works for piano, strings and voice in a Classical or Romantic style. This programme reflects her passion for Romantic music, tracing an emotional journey from the love and heartbreak of the song transcriptions to the exuberance of Chopin’s ‘Grande Polonaise’ and the virtuosic yet whimsical ‘La Campanella’. A particular favourite is Liszt’s transcription of Schumann’s ‘Widmung’ (Dedication), which expresses his uplifting love for his future wife, the pianist Clara Wieck. Louise is also delighted to be premiering one of her own piano compositions, ‘Serenade’, which is inspired by the Romantic Lieder tradition.
