The House |
The Varsity Marches, organised by Oxford University Rugby Football Club, will be held on Saturday 8 March at the StoneX Stadium – home of premiership side Saracens. Three Members of the House will be competing: Poppy Burrows (2024, English), Wolfe Morn (2022, Classics), and Kat Vincent (2023, Geography).
Poppy and Kat will play in the women's match at 12pm. Poppy says:
"I feel so excited and honoured to have been selected to play for the Blues at the Varsity Match! Pre-game nerves are bound to be a given but the team has been training so hard that I know we have the ability to really perform and hopefully come away with a win. Having only played local club rugby since u16s, this kind of opportunity is a massive privilege and something I’ve always wanted to do."
Kat agrees:
"I am so excited to be representing Oxford at StoneX this year, it is an amazing opportunity to play with a team of such talented people. It's an honour to be selected and I can't wait to run onto the pitch and gain a result that's a culmination of all our hard work and enjoyment.
After watching the Varsity match last year and playing in the Panthers and Pumas (women's 2nd and 3rd teams), I have worked hard and grown in my rugby skills. I started playing in my first year and it is a testament to the coaching staff, the captain and the whole club that I have been able to improve to the extent that I have now been selected to play for the Dark Blues.
I have loved every second of this season and eager to shoe some tabs at Varsity!!"
The men's match will kick off at 3pm. Wolfe Morn is a Classics undergraduate at Christ Church:
"I am honoured to have been selected for the 153rd Varsity Match this year and thrilled for the opportunity to compete in such a historic fixture. Rugby has always been a significant part of my life, and after earning my first Blue last year, it is a privilege to represent the University once again. I believe the hard work we've put in throughout the season has put us in good stead for what promises to be an exciting match."
